Groundskeeper

Classification: Non-exempt, hourly

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Summary/Objective:


The groundskeeper is responsible for ensuring the exterior and interior of vacant, local commercial, retail, and industrial properties are clean and well maintained. This position also assists with demolition work in various buildings.


Essential Functions:

  1. Picks up and removes trash.
  2. Sweeps, walks, rakes leaves, cuts grass, removes snow or performs other incidental seasonal tasks as needed.
  3. Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas. Removes stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions as needed.
  4. Operates various mechanical equipment, such as weed eaters and other light equipment.
  5. Maintains outside walk areas, including sweeping debris and power washing walkways.
  6. Maintains landscaping: waters, cuts and trims shrubs and grass.
  7. Assists with demolition work, including tearing down walls and removing glass, carpet, tile, sheetrock, and doors.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and in commercial spaces including but not limited to industrial, warehouse and office environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions. This may include confined locations.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Typical workweek is forty (40) hours per week. Work hours are determined by your supervisor. During peak times and seasonal extreme weather-related events, position may require longer hours.


Travel:

Local travel is required.


Required Education and Experience:

Drivers’ license


Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED diploma.
