Classification: Non-exempt, hourly

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Summary/Objective:

The painter is responsible for painting work for a diverse portfolio of industrial, office, and retail properties. This position uses independent judgement to determine proper techniques and materials for painting jobs on various surfaces.

Essential Functions:

  • Uses knowledge to apply various paints, including lacquers, thinners, stains, and shades.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting and/or coating, including scraping surfaces prior to painting.
  • Muds, cuts, and hangs sheetrock.
  • Operates all equipment including guns, hoppers and booth collection systems.
  • Observes machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects.
  • Ensures that all components are produced/coated efficiently and consistent with company established quality guidelines and customer order on-time performance.
  • Ensures quality standards and processes are used.
  • Ensures safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment.
  • Applies knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment.
  • Properly cleans and maintains equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and in commercial spaces including but not limited to industrial, warehouse and office environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions. This may include confined locations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:


Typical workweek is forty (40) hours per week. Your supervisor will determine your work hours. During peak times and seasonal extreme weather-related events, position may require longer hours.


Travel:

Travel within the local area is required.


Required Education and Experience:

Drivers’ license.


Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED diploma.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

None required for this position.
